    Author's Background

    Pablo Mejía Maldonado is a fully experienced professor of Contrastive Linguistics at Universidad Central del Ecuador, where he received all his degrees but a Ph.D. from UNINI. From 1996 until now, he has intensively been teaching Contrastive Linguistics, focusing on languages such as Spanish, English, French, Italian, and Portuguese and some knowledge of Kichwa and German.

    He taught English, French and Italian languages for about forty-four years at Comité Dante Alighieri, Centro Educativo Integral, Liceo Naval, Colegio Militar Eloy Alfaro, Escuela Superior Militar, Cardinal Spellman for Girls, CESPAD del Ecuador, Instituto Tecnológico Quito, Instituto Tecnológico Israel, Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador-Quito, as well as at the English Major of the Facultad de Filosofía, Letras y Ciencias de la Educación of the Universidad Central del Ecuador.

    In addition to these educational institutions, he has been teaching applied linguistics, linguistic scientific research, and scientific research methodology to undergraduates and postgraduates at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador, Quito - Ibarra and Ambato campuses, Universidad Técnica de Cotopaxi, Universidad Central del Ecuador – Quito, Santo Domingo, and Galápagos Campuses, Universidad de Cotopaxi, Universidad Técnica de Chimborazo, and Universidad Técnica de Ambato.

    His classes have been primarily focused on linguistics theory. His teaching has also covered various linguistics fields, including phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, bilingualism, didactics of academic research training, skill formation methodology, quantitative methods applied to educational scientific research, scholarly communication, innovative evaluation, and educational planning and administration.

    Pablo Mejía has written several books. Specifically, he is the author of the textbooks: English for Computer Understanding 1, 2, and 3 (1996), Contrastive Phonology (2006 – First Edition), Contrastive Phonology Essentials (a descriptive linguistics course for Spanish-English-French teachers), and some other compiled books on Descriptive English Linguistics, English for Specific Purposes World, Instrumental English, Teaching English (Theory and Practice), and Oral Communication Techniques.

    His experience as a local freelancer of international editorials such as Pearson, Express Publishing, MMPublications, McMillan, and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt is also remarkable.
